(Русский) Военные действия в Украине – как помочь?

Thursday March 3rd, 2022

Dear friends and families

I wanted to update you from the education perspective in the UK regarding the situation that’s unfolding in Ukraine.

To reassure you that schools are doing their utmost to support all pupils during such a distressing time.

I know that Heads, tutors and all teaching staff are doing their best to help students come to terms with what’s happening by allocating time in assemblies, lessons and across the pastoral care they provide.

Their overarching message is that schools are first and foremost a community. A tight-knit collection of individuals working together to support each other. From this standpoint of mutual support and understanding, I know they’re helping pupils appreciate that none of us should make assumptions about the views of any other member of our community. They acknowledge that while we’re all affected by the decisions of world leaders in our complex geopolitical society, none of us is personally responsible for those decisions.

It’s easy to feel powerless, but all we can do is extend our compassion and solidarity to humankind as a whole. From my own perspective, as a Ukrainian parent whose own parents have had to flee their homeland, I’ve felt overwhelmed by worry but also by the kindness we’ve been shown. People all over the world, including Russia, have been sending personal messages offering help and support.

It’s so important we all play our part in preventing any bad attitudes building towards ordinary Russians, who are just as distraught by the whole situation as we all are.

For my part, I want to use my skills and contacts to support Ukrainian children to get back to education as soon as they can. Right now they’re in shock, and life is about survival. But they need to go to school again, and the sooner the better.

I plan to offer English language support and online lessons as needed. As well as help with the admin side of school applications (for state schools in the UK), or translations of documents for Ukrainian families accessing schools anywhere in Europe or Ireland or England.

If you know of anyone who could benefit, please put them in touch with us. email: contactus@regencyeducation.co.uk Skype: regencyeducation

And if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Thank you so much for your support.
